Chantal Lacout est née en 1943 au Blanc, France.

En tant que jeune enfant, elle a joué avec de l’argile et a eu un attrait immédiat pour la création artistique. Des années plus tard, elle habite le XIVe arrondissement de Paris, non loin de l’atelier du sculpteur suisse Alberto Giacometti. Elle a été immergée dans le travail de l’artiste qui continue d’influencer le sien. Elle étudie l’art à l’école des Beaux Arts, et participe rapidement à de nombreuses expositions en France et à l’étranger.

Lacout a commencé à montrer son travail dans différentes galeries et à vendre à plusieurs collectionneurs et musées. Au fil des ans, elle a exploré une variété de styles et de techniques, mais son thème répétitif du couple reste constamment visible tout au long de son œuvre.

Ses sculptures dépeignent des émotions qui nous habitent tous en tant que race humaine, et donnent de la substance et de la visibilité à ces émotions.

Les titres donnés à ses sculptures établissent souvent un lien avec un livre de poèmes intitulé «Toi et Moi» de l’auteur français Paul Géraldy. Ces poèmes lui donnent les moyens d’explorer les émotions qui révèlent toutes les phases du couple. Parfois, une figure solitaire s’insinue dans le groupe de couples, donnant une nouvelle dimension en reflétant, peut-être, une certaine solitude.

Sa sculpture donne corps et visibilité aux émotions qui nous habitent, nous permettant de nous approprier et de préserver un moment particulier de notre vie.

Chantal Lacout was born in 1943 in Le Blanc, France.

As a young child, she played with clay and had an immediate attraction to creating art. Years later, she lives in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, not far from the studio of the Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti. She was immersed in the artist’s work which continues to influence hers. She studied art at the School of Fine Arts and quickly participated in numerous exhibitions in France and abroad.

Lacout started showing her work in different galleries and selling to several collectors and museums. Over the years she has explored a variety of styles and techniques, but her repetitive theme of the couple remains constantly visible throughout her work.

Her sculptures depict emotions that inhabit us all as a human race and give substance and visibility to those emotions.

The titles given to his sculptures often establish a link with a book of poems entitled «Toi et Moi» by the French author Paul Géraldy. These poems give her the means to explore the emotions that reveal all the phases of the couple. Sometimes a solitary figure insinuates itself into the group of couples, giving a new dimension by perhaps reflecting a kind of loneliness.

Her sculpture gives substance and visibility to the emotions that inhabit us, allowing us to appropriate and preserve a particular moment in our lives.
